The land of Smiles

Franz Lehars most beautiful operetta. The definitive version, which is on at the moment, was obtained in six years?? time. The Yellow Jacket, thus was The Land of Smiles called firstly, got erased from the playbill after three months time. Lehar was sorry to give up the music, though: he might have asked himself some questions raised by what had occurred and decided to elaborate the topic once again. Thanks to this, he created his most beautiful operetta, the acme in the history of the genre.

The Little Match Girl

The most moving of H. C. Andersen tales. Could we ever walk by a poor, hungry little child indifferently? No, we could not for such is human nature. Our match girl works in the street on an empty stomach and in the cold. She is lonely, left to herself, without any help from anywhere, not even loved a tiny bit. However, our young audience?s little hearts can, even if only a bit, warm up the places where the little girl turns up and, thus, show her fondness and understanding. Perhaps by learning empathy here at the Theatre, you will be able to help others. You are welcome to come over. It premired on 26th November 2001

Viennese Blood is wonderful music, startling and witty turns of actions.
